Why are we here?
We remember the frustration upon returning home from doctor
visits with no answers as to why our health was declining.
We remember feeling scared, lost, alone and helpless.
To share the knowledge we've learned and present the facts
so you can be your own advocate.
To lessen the learning curve of the gluten free lifestyle
for those that need it.
Simply...We care.
Who are we?
The core group of this board met between 5 and 6 years ago
when we ourselves were searching for answers to our own
health problems. We met at the world renowned
Braintalk.
At the time, Braintalk was a discussion forum that was
part of the Neurology Department of Boston Massachusetts
General Hospital. We met in the Peripheral Neuropathy
Board because of our neurological issues. Thankfully a
member [Cara aka JCC] had collected a wealth of
information on the neurological ramifications of gluten
and was sharing it. The Celiac Disease/Gluten
Sensitivity forum had not yet been established, but JCC
petitioned for a forum and it was granted.
For several years we had collected an "empire" of gluten
related knowledge. Sadly in July 2006, their server crashed
and we have not seen our data since. Luckily JCC kept
backups and was able to rebuild much of the "static" data
into a stand-alone web page called
The Gluten File.
Since that time we have tossed around the idea of "getting
a place of our own" - a place where we could have more
control over the data we've collected.
Gluten Free and Beyond Forums
is the result.
Currently this board is self funded. Some of the members
felt strongly enough about it's purpose and mission, that
they have made donations to cover the monthly hosting
costs.
